Spam Musubi

Spam Musubi


Spam Musubi is a popular snack and lunch food in Hawaii. 

Ingredients


  • 2 cups of rice  
  • 3 pieces of Spam                         
  • 3 tsp of mirin (cooking wine)
  • 4 half sheets of nori (seaweed)
  • 8 slices of cucumber
  • Unagi sauce
  • 1 or 2 tsp of sesame seed oil
  • Salt
Equipment
  • Takamura Omsubi Maker
Instructions
  1. Pan fry the spam on medium high heat for approximately two minutes on each side. Cut spam in half. 
  2. Set aside the spam on a plate until you're ready to make musubi.
  3. Put rice in a bowl. Mix in the mirin, sesame seed oil, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Lay out a half sheet of nori. Put the omsubi maker on top of the nori, and the rice in the mold. Then press the rice down. Remove the mold. 
  5. Spread a dab of unagi sauce with a spoon on to the rice. 
  6. Place one piece of spam on top of the rice.
  7. Cut one cucumber slice in half, and put it on top of the spam.
  8. Fold one end of the nori over the musubi. Press lightly on to top of the cucumber. To make it stick put a piece of rice on the nori and stick it together.

Green Snail Recipe(veggies)


 I decided to make this snack because not many little kids like vegetables.  This snack is really simple to make and your kids can make them too. 



What You'll Need  Serving size 6



  •  Sliced cucumbers
  •  2-3 Celery sticks
  •  Twelve Pretzel sticks
  •  Twelve Raisins or Cocoa Pebble Cereal.(Your choice)
  • Cream cheese



What You Need To Do



  1. Cut the celery into small sticks about a three inches long.
  2. Cut the cucumber into 1/4 inch thick slices.
  3.  First with a parents help spread the cream cheese onto the celery stick to make the body.
  4.  Next, put two raisins and stick them to on the end of the celery stick to make the eyes.
  5.  Then you put on two pretzel sticks for antennae.
  6.  Last you put on one sliced cucumber on your celery stick behind the eyes and antennae (The cucumber will be the snail shell).
  7.  Finally place your snails on a plate and serve them to your friends and family!
