Spam Musubi is a popular snack and lunch food in Hawaii.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of rice
- 3 pieces of Spam
- 3 tsp of mirin (cooking wine)
- 4 half sheets of nori (seaweed)
- 8 slices of cucumber
- Unagi sauce
- 1 or 2 tsp of sesame seed oil
- Salt

- Takamura Omsubi Maker
Instructions
- Pan fry the spam on medium high heat for approximately two minutes on each side. Cut spam in half.
- Set aside the spam on a plate until you're ready to make musubi.
- Put rice in a bowl. Mix in the mirin, sesame seed oil, and a pinch of salt.
- Lay out a half sheet of nori. Put the omsubi maker on top of the nori, and the rice in the mold. Then press the rice down. Remove the mold.
- Spread a dab of unagi sauce with a spoon on to the rice.
- Place one piece of spam on top of the rice.
- Cut one cucumber slice in half, and put it on top of the spam.
- Fold one end of the nori over the musubi. Press lightly on to top of the cucumber. To make it stick put a piece of rice on the nori and stick it together.
